Questions to ask every supplier
The answer to each tells you something the quote never will.
Can you ship a sample first?
A sample turns a spec on paper into a physical proof. ~15 days is normal for a custom build.
What material is the light guide panel?
Virgin acrylic (Mitsubishi-grade) stays clear; recycled LGP yellows. This single detail predicts 2-year performance.
What aging / burn-in test do you run?
A 2-hour full-power aging test before packing catches dead LEDs and driver faults.
Which certifications come with the order?
CE + RoHS are standard for the EU; UL-listed drivers matter for the US. Ask for the test report, not just the mark.
What plug and voltage are fitted?
Confirm US / EU / AU and 12V DC before shipping — retrofitting on arrival adds cost and delay.
What does the warranty actually cover?
A 1-year limited warranty on the panel and driver is reasonable; get it in writing.
Can you show a reference photo at full brightness?
A lit, in-context photo reveals brightness uniformity and color accuracy better than a spec sheet.
Comparing two quotes
When both suppliers answered the same spec sheet, the difference is no longer "who is cheaper" but "who builds to last." Weight your decision on material grade (LGP), driver certification, the aging test, and the warranty in writing. A sign that dims in six months costs more than a slightly pricier one that lasts.
